If you're looking for a leisurely, well-marked trail, this hiking trail is one of the best in the entire St. Petersburg, Florida area. In the area where the trail starts, there is lots of parking space. Here you'll find picnic tables right by the water. Florida can get pretty hot in the summer, but cooling breezes come off the open water. You can fish in the inlet....What more could you ask for?

You can pick up a booklet and be your own guide, but if you're there on a weekend, the volunteer guides will make your hike even more interesting.

Watch for the prickly pear cactus which is a favorite snack for gopher tortoises which are common in this part of Florida.
