Come on in, to the Paw Playground. This dog park has large fenced areas for both
large and small dogs, including dog showers for those hot days. |

Bring your dog to Fort De Soto park! It's a very dog-friendly place.
Dogs visiting Fort De Soto Park used to have a no-leash area that was less
than perfect. It was unfenced, too near the road, and full of sand spurs.
That's all changed now. This Paw Playground rates with the best and
dogs love it. There's one section for larger dogs, and another
for the smaller ones. You'll find it just before you come to
the turnoff for the fort. Park in the Bay Pier parking lot.
Dogs are allowed anywhere in the park on a six-foot leash,
except on any beach. The Paw Playground area is the
exception--dogs are allowed on the dog beach, and they are
allowed off leash on that area of beach. They can also run
unleashed inside the fenced areas. On a hot summer day, you can
cool off your dog by hosing him down, and drinking water is
available too.

This is the ONLY place in Fort De Soto Park where dogs have a dog beach where they are allowed on the beach. And as you can see with this matched set of Weimaraners, they love it! |
